We celebrated Aaron’s 9th birthday on the 6th of January. This boy challenges me so much as a parent; at times I have absolutely no idea how to deal with him. But he is also very sensitive, incredibly generous, wonderful to converse with and great fun!
Coming so soon after Christmas, we had no idea what to get him and there was very little he wanted. Tabitha and I went shopping in desperation the day before, and just happened to stumble across a book, a magazine and a small Lego kit that included the three Ninjago minifigures he needed to complete his collection.
He woke up really early with excitement and I had to send him and Tabitha back to bed at 4:30 am! He had some thoughtful presents from friends and family, including Planet Earth II on DVD, a jar of olives and a book about Scratch programming.
When Colin got home from work in the evening, we told Aaron and Tabitha to get ready to go out. They had no idea where we were going! First we picked up Nanny, then Aaron’s best friend. They didn’t figure it out until we were actually walking into the bowling alley.
The bowling alley is in the same building as Burger King, so we took them there for dinner as a treat.
After dropping his friend off, we headed back home with Nanny to watch a DVD together. A few weeks ago Aaron requested a lemon cheesecake instead of a birthday cake, so that was exactly what he got!
