We haven’t been camping yet this year due to the uncertainties with Colin’s job. However, he now has a new job lined up and had a few days free between training sessions, so we decided to set off for a last-minute camping trip.
For my birthday I treated myself to a tripod barbecue. Colin may look bored in this picture but there is nothing he loves more than playing with fire! I packed my crochet and reading book, but actually it was lovely just to sit in the sunshine and do absolutely nothing.
Roasting marshmallows over the fire was one of the things that Tabitha was especially looking forward to!
We had wonderful weather and woke up to sunshine every morning. I opened my birthday cards whilst eating breakfast outdoors in the fresh air.
Aaron took his job of cooking bacon for breakfast very seriously.
Meanwhile Colin and Tabitha went back to bed for a nap!
The children spent lots of time picking and eating blackberries from the bushes around the camping field. Aaron came running back saying “Mummy, it appears that wasps are attracted to blackberry juice!”
Nanny came over on the bus to meet us and we spent an afternoon at the beach, rockpooling, paddling and building dams.
Another day was spent at the dinosaur and wildlife park.
The children made friends with a younger girl in a nearby tent and had fun playing together and showing her how to climb trees.
We went for an evening walk in search of curry on the beach, but sadly we arrived just as the cafe had finished serving.
The stars at nighttime were absolutely spectacular thanks to the clear skies and low light pollution!
Early morning sunlight on the eastern side of the tent promises another lovely day.
Good morning sleepy head!
Time to pack up and go home. Until next time little bell tent!
