The weather today has been beautiful, so we packed up a picnic and headed off to the allotment. Grandpa and DDS joined us.
The main purpose of today’s visit was to plant some blueberry bushes. The menfolk dug two big holes, sunk some large pieces of pipe, sieved the soil and added ericaceous compost.
Meanwhile Tabitha watered the seedlings we planted a few weeks ago. They are in there somewhere, between the weeds!
Dad recently planted these new blackberry bushes and raspberry canes. We don’t have many crops growing at the moment as neither of us have much free time, so we are planting more fruit instead.
Aaron taking a well-earned rest.
But why can’t I eat dirt, mummy? It’s so tasty!
The children each have their own blueberry bush that they planted and will be responsible for looking after. Aaron’s is called “Spartan”.
Tabitha with her blueberry bush, “Bluecrop”.
Push harder, Esther!
Apparently pipes and wheelbarrows are a great way to get around.
Almost as much fun as riding in the back of Grandpa’s truck!
