This gorgeous girlie is 6 months old already! I did a little home photo shoot to commemorate the occasion. We also got her weighed for the first time in ages; she now weighs 7.84 kg or around 17 lb 4 oz. It’s quite amazing to think that my body has nurtured her for the last fifteen months as she has grown from a tiny speck into a chubby munchkin ready to start trying food. She has two bottom teeth, loves to stand but is still not great at sitting, and likes to pretend she is swimming or skydiving whilst lying on her tummy! She is ticklish on her neck and enjoys having her cheeks kissed. She now sleeps in a cot but wakes up quite a lot in the night and has recently stopped taking nice long naps during the day. She adores her big brother and sister and brings so much joy to us all.
6 months is an exciting milestone, but I can’t help thinking about another baby who will never reach it. Our downstairs neighbour’s little girl died from SIDS a couple of weeks ago. She was five weeks younger than Esther. I cannot even begin to imagine what her mummy is going through. A tragic reminder to take nothing for granted, it really does put a lot of things into perspective.
