The long-awaited day of Tabitha’s 6th birthday finally arrived. She has talked of little else for weeks!
Of course the first thing she wanted to do was open her presents. She had some lovely gifts, including a butterfly kit, clothes, Lego and lots of little accessories and pretty things.
From us she asked for a baby carrier with buckles, as the mei tai carriers I made for the children a few years ago are getting too small. This carrier is made from the same fabric as my woven wrap for Bumpy, so she and I can be matching!
Aaron gave her this Lego Friends aeroplane and then spent most of the morning building it for her.
Auntie Jennifer dropped off the most amazingly beautiful cake! She is very talented and put so much time and effort into it.
Tabitha insisted on changing into her bridesmaid dress. She may as well get as much use out of it as possible before she completely outgrows it!
Uncle James popped round to drop off some gifts.
There was lots of dancing and swirling while she waited for her party guests to arrive. She invited four friends, two girls and two boys, and two older siblings ended up staying as well.
We played Hunt the Thimble, a cooperative board game called Race to the Treasure, Simon Says, Pass the Parcel and Musical Statues/Bumps, then we had food, cake and party bags. It was the first time I’ve hosted a proper birthday party (I did well avoiding that for eight years!) but it went fairly smoothly and I hope the children had a good time.
There was an unexpected surprise when we cut into the cake!
In the evening after the party guests had left, it was time for a visit from Nanny, Auntie Kirsty, Auntie Jennifer and the two littlest cousins.
There was lots of getting out of bed before Aaron and Tabitha finally fell asleep, worn out from all the excitement!
