Aaron has been wanting to do a taste comparison of yellow, pink and red grapefruit for a while. Last time the supermarket had all three varieties in stock, we got to the checkout only to be told that the pink ones were recalled and they couldn’t sell them to us! This time we managed to get all three types and he decided that the red ones were his favourite.
He has been doing well with his learning. Unusually for us we are using workbooks quite a bit at the moment. I think he likes being able to see exactly how much is expected of him (a page, two pages, etc.).
Lots of bubbles!
Refreshing our knowledge of 3D shapes.
Tabitha will need to be able to fasten her gi with a shoelace knot for her first karate grading. She is very good at things like knitting and plaiting, so I knew she would pick it up quickly. I bought her this book with step-by-step instructions and she had mastered it before we even got home.
She has been doing lots of art and crafty stuff.
We made some damson ripple icecream with the damsons we picked from the allotment. I found a very simple recipe that uses one tin of condensed milk whisked with one pint of double cream, and doesn’t need churning during the freezing process.
Playing dancing games with Daddy.
She plays with her dolls every day! Unfortunately her doll pram and pushchair are now too small for her and I’m having trouble finding anything suitable for “older” girls.
She loved using power tools to help me assemble some flat-packed furniture!
Esther is suddenly growing up really fast. She learned to roll from back to front a couple of weeks ago and initially hated being on her tummy, but soon got used to it. She has since learned to roll from front to back.
She has also started to anticipate certain things. In the mornings I wash her face with a wet cloth and often say “you’re not going to like this bit”. She has started holding her breath and screwing up her face before I even touch her! She also understands the word and sign for “milk” and will sometimes open her mouth or take her fingers out of her mouth.
She now has two teeth at the bottom. I think she may be teething again as she has been sleeping terribly and being very grumpy during the day. It’s hard when nothing seems to help the crying. Good thing she’s cute!
