Sweet peas are starting to bloom at the allotment. These ones are on our neighbour’s plot, ours are refusing to climb up the canes!
One of the other plot holders has been talking about keeping bees since I got my first plot in 2011. They have finally arrived so Grandpa took the children over to have a look.
The fruits on our mystery tree are starting to ripen and turn yellow. Any ideas what it could be?
The abandoned plot on the far side of ours has some beautiful borage plants in amongst the weeds. I’m tempted to take a cutting or collect some seeds.
Watching bees visit these globe artichoke flowers is quite amusing. They land on top of the florets and then crawl down to reach the nectar, wiggling their behinds in the air!
This was the first ladybird we’ve seen for a few weeks. I suspect there will be plenty more soon as the runner beans start to attract blackfly.
